The Importance of Regular Updates
Keeping your WordPress core, plugins, and themes up-to-date is the single most important maintenance task you can perform. Updates not only introduce new features but also patch critical security vulnerabilities that could put your site at risk.
The Plesk WordPress Toolkit on your Arh24.com account makes this process safe and simple.
Recommended Update Workflow
We recommend using the "Smart Update" feature for safe, automated testing before applying updates.
- Log in to your Plesk control panel.
- Go to the "WordPress" section from the left sidebar.
- Find your website and look at the "Updates" section in its card. Click on the "Autoupdate settings" link.
- Enable "Smart Update". This feature will automatically:
- Clone your website to a secure, private environment.
- Apply the updates on the clone.
- Run a series of tests to check if the updates broke anything (e.g., HTTP errors, PHP errors).
- If all tests pass, it will then update your live website. If any test fails, it will not update the live site and will notify you.
- You can also run updates manually by clicking "Check for updates" and then selecting the items you wish to update. Always ensure you have a recent backup before performing manual updates.
Best Practice: Even with Smart Updates, it is always a good idea to visually inspect your website after any updates have been applied to ensure everything looks and functions as expected.
