How to Connect to Your Windows RDP VPS

Connecting to your Windows VPS is easy using the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP). This guide will show you how to connect from a Windows computer, which is the most common method.

Before You Begin

You will need the following information, which was sent to you in your welcome email after purchasing your Windows RDP VPS plan:

  • VPS IP Address: The unique IP address of your server (e.g., 192.0.2.123).
  • Username: By default, this is usually Administrator.
  • Password: The Administrator password for your VPS.

Connecting from a Windows PC

  1. On your local computer, open the Remote Desktop Connection application. You can find this by searching for "Remote Desktop" or "mstsc" in the Start Menu.
  2. In the "Computer" field, enter the IP Address of your VPS and click "Connect".
  3. A new window will appear asking for your credentials. You may need to click "More choices" and then "Use a different account".
  4. Enter the username (Administrator) and your password. Check the box "Remember my credentials" if you are on a private, secure computer.
  5. You might see a security warning stating that the identity of the remote computer cannot be verified. This is normal for a new connection. Check the box "Don't ask me again for connections to this computer" and click "Yes" to proceed.
  6. Your remote desktop session will now start, and you will see the Windows Server desktop of your VPS!

Connecting from a Mac

To connect from a macOS device, you need to download the official Microsoft Remote Desktop app from the Mac App Store. Once installed, the steps are similar: add a new PC, enter your VPS IP address, and then connect using your username and password.

Connecting from Mobile (iOS/Android)

Both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store have the official "Microsoft Remote Desktop" app. You can download it for free and use it to connect to your VPS by adding a new connection with your server's IP address and credentials.

Security Tip: It is highly recommended to change your default Administrator password after your first successful login to enhance your server's security.
